Councillor Saima Mahmud’s surreptitious Town Hall award ceremonies: a further update

Regular readers of this blog will remember that last year’s Mayor, Cllr. Saima Mahmud, hosted surreptitious award ceremonies, organised by two private citizens, in the Mayor’s Parlour; and that the beneficiaries of these events included several controversial figures.

The most unpleasant without doubt was the Pakistani Senator Sirajul Haq, a man known, amongst other things, for ranting about the Jews and opposing legislation on domestic violence – in other words espousing views which are not only abhorrent in themselves, but also (important in this context) diametrically opposed to LBWF community cohesion policies.

Now the Guido Faulkes blog reveals that this is not the only link between Labour and Siraljul Haq, for it turns out that Afzal Khan, the party’s candidate in the forthcoming Manchester Gorton by-election, also has associated with the Senator, as evidenced by this picture, taken at a UK Islamic Mission event in 2015:

In response, Mr. Khan pleads that he attends many functions, meets many people but does not share their views, etc..

It will be interesting to see what else Guido has to say about the matter.

The bottom line, however, is this.

Imagine how the Left would react If Tory councillors were caught exchanging pleasantries with a neo-fascist.

So why is it that the same people both nationally and in Waltham Forest turn a blind eye to fraternalisation with the equally odious Senator Haq?
